We went on Colorado River Discovery’s half-day raft trip. We Departed thru the Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. At river level, with the dam was 700 feet above us. We boarded a pontoon raft for our trip downstream. For the next fifteen miles, we saw an interesting stretch the river. Our guide told the story of the area’s soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell and others, and the river's modern role in the Southwest’s water and power delivery system. The river portion of our trip ended at historic Lees Ferry, gateway to the Grand Canyon.
