Wet Mountain Valley, Colorado

Many thanks to Pat and Barbara who treated us to some great views from their mountain home and Barbara’s cooking which is nothing short of five star. We were able to spend two days visiting with them before moving on to Kansas.  The weather at this altitude is great and requires at least long sleeves during the day and more in late evening.  I don’t think Kansas will be this cool!  We also made some new Airstream friends.  Mike and Megan live close to Pat and Barbara and are members of the Airstream Vintage Club and has a beautifully restored Airstream trailer.

Bishop Castle, Wetmore, CO
Just down the road from Pat and Barbara is Bishop Castle.
Directions: I-25, turn west at highway 165 going northeast through Colorado City and Rye approximately 27 miles to Bishop Castle.  For 40 years, Jim Bishop has been building a castle on a mountainside in central Colorado. Every year since 1969, Bishop has gathered and set over 1000 tons of rock to create this stone and iron fortress in the middle of nowhere.
